Santa must have all that holiday organization down to a T, don’t you think? If we could all be a little more organized, the holiday decorating and take down would be so much easier to accomplish! Today I have some holiday organization hacks to help. These are so great, I wouldn’t be surprised if Santa himself uses them!
The endless strings of lights are probably one of the biggest headaches about Christmas decorating. Especially if you don’t take the time to store them properly! Not only are they much harder to set up the next year, but they have a much higher risk of breaking and shorting out. {No one wants to deal with that!}. Prevent a ton of headaches with one simple hack. Save your cardboard wrapping paper tubes. Use a sharp knife to cut a 1-inch slit in each end of a cardboard wrapping paper tube. Secure one end of your light string by tucking it into a slit in one end of the wrapping paper tube, then wrap the light string securely around the tube until you get to the opposite end. Now tuck the other end of the light string into the slit you cut there. Store your wrapped light strings inside a large plastic tote or zippered garment bag until next year. So easy and so much more organized!
After the storage of all the light strings, the artificial Christmas tree probably comes as the next biggest headache. Has anyone ever gotten the tree to fit neatly back into the box it came in?! There are two organization hacks to help with this problem. One is to purchase a Christmas tree storage bag to match the size of your artificial tree. Amazon has an extra large option that will store up to a 9′ tree. If you are among those who like to decorate your tree once and then store it that way, try covering your tree as is with a poly storage bag to keep everything secure and dust-free. Next year, just move the tree to its display spot and carefully remove the bag.
For the best and easiest storage of your glass ornaments, keep the box and divider they came in and reuse it for as long as possible. If that wears out {hello, all you vintage ornament lovers!} try using an egg carton for smaller sized ornaments. For larger ornaments, try a set of wide mouth plastic cups set inside a carboard box.
Try these organization hacks for all your holiday storage needs!
