Do you regularly take time for yourself in your busy day? Or do you have trouble feeling guilty about it if you do? Stop feeling the guilt and organize your day to include a few minutes for yourself! There are important health-related reasons why you should. Let’s look at the why and how, so you can feel the benefits of “Me Time” more often.

Why You Should Care For Yourself

The demands of life are many, and that makes it tough enough to care for yourself without feeling guilty about it. So why try? Because taking time to unwind, re-energize, and de-stress is beneficial for your brain, your body, and your spirit. You should care for yourself to better your concentration, increase your energy level, and improve your relationships with others.

How To Find Time For Yourself

If you leave it to chance, the demands of everyday life will quickly nix any time you could otherwise devote to yourself. So it’s important to schedule your day to include a little “Me Time.” But how do you do that? Here are some helpful ideas.

Look carefully at your day. Most of us have things in our day that are really just time-wasters. For example, how many hours do you spend mindlessly scrolling through Facebook or Instagram? Do you sit on the couch and watch something on TV just because it’s on and later wonder why you bothered? Take these needless things and cut them out of your day, and then devote that time to meaningful activities that give you a mood boost.

Simplify your life wherever possible, because that creates more hours in your week that you can devote to yourself. Here are some household items to help you do that!

When To Care For You

How about your lunch hour? That’s one place where it might be easy to schedule some time for yourself into your day. If you can’t do it every day, try to build it in at least a few times a week.

Some people have success getting up a few minutes earlier each day to meditate or just enjoy a quiet house. Journaling is also a positive way to spend that “Me Time.”

Show a little love for yourself and you’ll find that the rest of your day is somehow better than ever.
