The kitchen is the heart of every home, and this simple fact can make the kitchen the messiest part of your home. Don’t scare away your dinner guests with a messy, cluttered kitchen, use these 10 incredible tips to declutter your kitchen and make the most of your space.

Donate Duplicate Materials

While it is totally acceptable to have duplicates of your kitchen materials (I have two sets of measuring cups and I have absolutely no idea what I would do without them!) it can get a bit excessive. Go through your cabinets and drawers and donate or give away any kitchen utensils that you don’t find yourself getting a whole lot of use out of. Toss anything broken, or anything that could potentially break off into one of your meals!

Excess Water Bottles

If you have a home full of little athletes, you may find that you have cabinets full of refillable water bottles! Unfortunately, plastic water bottles don’t last forever, and the spouts often leak. Go through your water bottles and get rid of any that don’t hold water in the way you want. Keep only the best when it comes to your water bottles! You’ll be so amazed at how much cabinet space this clears up!

Too Many Plastic Bags

Plastic bags in the kitchen definitely have their uses! However, your plastic bag storage can get to be a bit out of hand! If you find yourself constantly picking up the plastic bags that have fallen out of your designated holder, it may be time to cut down the supply! Plastic bags can be donated to various grocery stores. You could always use reusable grocery bags, they’re better for the environment and you won’t have to deal with any clutter!

Too Many Towels

Everyone knows how crucial having washcloths and towels are in the kitchen. Seriously, how could you possibly get anything clean without them? However, although they are a crucial kitchen tool, your supply may be a little bit excessive! Go through your dishtowels and decide which ones are still in good enough shape to use. Donate any of the other towels to your local animal shelter, they have tons of uses for them!

Too Much Tupperware

Tupperware is God’s gift to anyone who loves leftover enchiladas. Because Tupperware is good for everything, it’s totally easy to acquire too much of it! Go through your Tupperware and get rid of anything that doesn’t have a lid, or has that unsightly ring of red from your spaghetti in the bottom!

Specialty Dishes

You know that weird serving platter in the back of your cupboard that you absolutely never have used? It’s time to donate it! Go through your cabinets and donate any baking pieces that you haven’t used in six months.

Kid’s Cups

I went through my cabinets the other day and found a sippy cup from when my daughter was a baby. She’s seven now, and has definitely outgrown that Cinderella sippy cup. Donate any old kids cups, plates, or utensils to a local homeless or women’s shelter. You don’t need the dishes anymore, and there are tons of moms out there who definitely do!

Too Many Condiments

Everyone has that one drawer of the kitchen dedicated to leftover packets of ketchup, wrapped silverware, or old chopsticks. It’s time to clean that out! Go through your drawers and get rid of any condiments that are expired, or that you have duplicates of in your refrigerator. Of course, wasting food is never good, so it may be a good idea to use your supply of pre packaged ketchup before purchasing more.

Too Many Vases

If you’ve ever gotten flowers, you are definitely familiar with the free vase that comes with them! Keep your favorite few vases, and donate the rest to your thrift store.

Chipped plates and dishes aren’t the best to eat off of, and they don’t look as good! Removing the chipped dishes from your home is a wonderful way to free up cabinet space.
