Have you ever stress cleaned? Or for that matter, angry or sad or frustrated cleaned? Well I have, and I can tell you it is one of the best therapies there is! There’s nothing like transferring those I’m-not-in-control feelings to the things you can control–like how clean your home is. Here are 8 of the best things to clean when you’re super stressed!

  1. When you need a distraction from the stress or anger, it’s a great time to do something that requires some close attention, like dusting the entire bookshelf and everything on it. It’s something you probably don’t do often because it’s time consuming, so now’s the best time! Pick up every little knickknack and book and dust it all. You’ll feel better when it’s done. Amazon has some great microfiber cloths perfect for the occasion!
  2. Another chore that isn’t on the regular rotation is a great way to work off stress. Attack the grout in your bath or shower! I like to grab a toothbrush, put some water in a cup and add a little bleach, and use it to totally eradicate any and all mold, mildew, and grossness on my grout. It’s a sure-fire way to kill a lot of that stress, too.
  3. Your mattress probably needs flipping, so now’s a great time to change the sheets and muscle the mattress into submission.
  4. Another chore that can be tackled during stressful times is to wash the walls and remove dust & stains from your baseboards. Once you’ve done that, use a dryer sheet to repel dust from accumulating again. This post will show you plenty of other great ways to use dryer sheets around the house.
  5. A sure-fire stress killer is to run things through the laundry that don’t have a regular slot in the rotation. I’m talking about things like bath rugs, curtains, and bed skirts.
  6. When you’re feeling stressed, it’s a great time to organize the linen closet. Throw out old sheets that are thin or torn {or use the fabric in other ways}. Cut torn towels into smaller rags to use for cleaning around the house or the garage.
  7. Time to go through your closet. Organize your shoes and donate anything you don’t wear anymore. Helping someone in need is a great way to help yourself feel better! You can also try selling things online at Decluttr if you need some extra cash.
  8. Take a look around the kitchen and clean things you don’t clean every week, like the oven, or the drip trays on the stove. Wipe down the cabinets. Get out the vacuum and attachments and use it to eradicate crumbs in the pantry.
