Keeping a clean kitchen is important for you and your family’s health, but are you sure you’re cleaning everything you should? Today I have a list of 8 things you’re {probably} forgetting to clean in your kitchen. Take a look and see if any of these items are being forgotten in your kitchen!

1.Cleaning the oven, dishwasher and refrigerator are pretty much a given, but are you remembering to clean their handles? They are touched multiple times a day {especially the fridge handles!} and get germy (not to mention grimy!) really fast. Be sure to wipe them down with a disinfectant wipe at least once each week.

2. Have you ever noticed how grungy the buttons and dials on your stove and oven can get? I have removable dials on my stove that tend to get really gross. Do you know the easiest way to clean them? Just pull them off and soak them in a bowl of white vinegar for half an hour. Now remove them from the vinegar and give them a scrubbing with dish soap and a sponge. Thoroughly dry them and return them to their spots.

3. Cabinet fronts: those oft-neglected kitchen surfaces that really rack up the grease and grime if you don’t clean them enough. Over at Kitchn, four different cleaners for kitchen cabinets were tested on tough grease and grime, including Murphy’s Oil Soap and Borax. Click on over to see what the favorite turned out to be.

4. Along with cabinet fronts, don’t forget to clean those cabinet shelves every so often. I know it’s a pain, but leaving the crumbs and spills that tend to accumulate only invites bugs to come on in. While you’re at it, take a little extra time to reorganize and get rid of stuff you don’t use.

5. The filter on your range hood needs a good cleaning, at least every 3 to 4 months, to prevent dangerous grease build-up. The easiest way to clean it is to pop it out and soak it in hot water and dish soap, with some baking soda added for an extra punch. If needed, you can then run it through your dishwasher on the top rack.

6. Stove drip pans catch lots of grease and grime, yet we rarely take the time to clean them often enough. But somehow, cleaning them makes the whole kitchen look better!  The Gardening Cook has an easy way to take them from black and gross to shiny and new. Seriously!

7. Sink drains can get smelly and disgusting, even though the sink itself may be shiny and germ-free. Here’s a natural way to freshen up your sink drains in minutes. Bonus: this will make your sink drain better, too!

8. When is the last time you cleaned the top of your refrigerator? Can you believe how dirty, dusty and grimy it gets?! Well, here’s the best way to clean that dust and grime, using a microfiber cloth. Even if no one else sees it, you’re going to feel better knowing it’s spic and span up there.
