Today I want to help both of us by showing you how to remove stains from leather purses. It’s easy to do, and I promise it will have you feeling happy about your purse again. Keep reading!
Over at One Good Thing by Jillee, she actually tossed a yellow leather Cynthia Rowley bag into the washing machine, with great results! This is definitely a “take it at your own risk” proposition, but before you discount it, look at the results Jillee got. Here’s the before and after:
Now, don’t go throwing your leather purse in the washer on the heavy-duty cycle with regular detergent. For this delicate job, you want to use your machine’s hand wash or delicate cycle. You also want a gentle soap such as Dr. Bronner’s or even Murphy’s Oil Soap. You only need 1/4 cup!
Once the machine completes the cycle, take out your leather purse and do one of two things. If it’s nice outside, just lay it on a towel to air dry in the sun. If not, toss it in the dryer with a couple of fluffy towels, and use the “air dry” {no heat} setting for only 5-10 minutes. Then hang it up to finish drying.
After your leather purse has finished drying, make sure to rub it down with some leather conditioner to moisturize and protect the leather. That’s it!
