I love to clean! In a crazy world, it’s one of the things I can actually control, and that’s precisely why I like it. I even have my own cleaning schedule! Even though I love doing it, that doesn’t mean I want to spend all my time on it. I enjoy a good cleaning hack as much as the next person, so today’s post is all about ways to make a spotless home easier to have. Check out these 12 cleaning hacks for a spotless home. These cleaning tips will change your life!
1.When cleaning your kitchen and bathroom cabinets, focus only on the area around the door knobs and drawer pulls where it tends to get the dirtiest. Murphy’s Oil Soap will easily conquer the dirt you find there. For the inside of your cabinets, bring out the vacuum and attachments to quickly suck away crumbs and other debris.
2. Glass light fixtures are often neglected from regular cleaning. By the time you notice them, they could be caked with dust and grime. Just pop them into the dishwasher on a light cleaning cycle and no-heat dry. They’ll be good as new!
3. Easily pull all the dust bunnies off of your ceiling fan blades with a pillowcase. Spray the inside of a pillowcase with a mixture of water and white vinegar. Put the pillowcase over each blade, grip the blade through the pillowcase, and pull the dust off the blade as you pull the pillowcase away. All the dust will be trapped inside the pillowcase instead of falling all over your flooring and furniture.
4. What a pillowcase does for a ceiling fan, socks do for window blinds. Put your hand inside a thick tube sock. Spray the sock with water, or a mixture of water and vinegar for extra cleaning power. Slide your sock-covered hand over each slat to pull off the dust.
5. Wish I’d thought of this one sooner! Use a clean paint roller to dust your ceilings. It will pick up dust without damaging the texture or finish.
6. Baby wipes are a great thing to use for spot cleaning your furniture. They’re gentle and won’t damage the fabrics. Keep some in the car, too! Buy at Amazon and you’ll always have them when you need them.
7. When it’s time to launder your comforters, toss a couple of tennis balls into the dryer with them. The balls help keep the filling fluffy and evenly distributed as they dry.
8. Instead of taking down your curtains, just shake them thoroughly to remove loose dust. Then get out the vacuum and use a brush attachment to vacuum them from top to bottom. It’s a time-saver!
9. Don’t spend hours trying to scrub away hard water stains around faucets. Soak a paper towel in white vinegar, set it on the stains, and then walk away. Leave it as long as overnight, then come back and wipe away whatever is left.
10. To remove the hard-to-clean grease spots from around your stove, you’ll want to keep a bottle of ZEP Heavy Duty Citrus Degreaser in your cleaning arsenal. It really works and will save you TONS of time.
11. Don’t throw away your old dryer sheets! They are awesome for cleaning glass shower doors {I’ve done it myself!}, removing the ring around the toilet, and dusting baseboards. See more uses for old dryer sheets here.
12. My favorite hack to clean bathroom tile is an easy way to remove sticky gunk from the overspray of your hair products. Just spray the tile and grout down with Windex and let it penetrate for several minutes. After it soaks for 5-10 minutes, use paper towels to wipe the tile and grout clean. Try it, it’s magic!
