Before you even start organizing your linen closet, go through what you have and make sure you want to keep it all. Purge what you don’t use or don’t like; there’s no point in keeping things around that you’re never going to use. Donate them or give them away.
Install adjustable shelves, if possible. What goes in your linen closet might change over time, so you want to be able to adjust and customize your closet for future changes. This prevents a lot of stress later down the road.
Store all your linens in bins or baskets. This prevents them from falling off the shelves or getting mixed up. Choose cute baskets that are practical but also make your linen closet look great.
Also make some labels that you can put on each of the baskets. You want people to get what they need without having to rifle through all the other baskets.
For things like bedding and sheets, wrap them inside each other. Don’t just stack them on top. This makes it so much easy for you and any of your guests: you just have to grab a package of sheets and you’re good to go!
You could also organize bedding by size. Keep all the twin bed, queen bed, and king bed sizes on different shelves or different spots. It’s hard to tell what size a sheet is, so if you don’t do this then it could take a while to get the right bedding.
Organize your linen closet by color, too! This looks great, which is the main reason you’d do it, but it also just keeps things organized and neat. You’ll always know exactly where everything goes! Plus, it makes matching colors way easier.
If the bedrooms and bathrooms in your home are vastly different from each other (in size, decoration, and color), then store the items in the linen closet by bedroom. Having all the linens for one bedroom and/or bathroom all together will definitely streamline the process of getting things ready.
I would also suggest storing the things you use the most often at hand and eye level and then everything else either up or above. By organizing your closet by most frequently used, it’ll make things a lot more efficient, plus you won’t throw your back out from bending over all the time.
