You don’t have to live with a dirty hair brush–nor should you. A dirty hairbrush, besides being gross and stinky, can actually do damage to your hair. The rough surface of a dirty hair brush can actually lead to more split ends. So before you use that dirty brush again, take just a little time to get it clean and fresh. Here’s how to clean your hair brushes!

The first thing to do is remove all the hair that builds up in the bristles of the hair brush. The best tip I’ve seen for doing that is to use a small pair of scissors. The tips of the scissors are great at digging deep and getting underneath all that hair. Plus, as you go you can snip the hair to help release it from the bristles more easily. Get all the hair out before you proceed.Get a large bowl from the kitchen and fill it with warm water. Add about two tablespoons of your favorite shampoo {find my personal favorite at Amazon!} to the water, and use a whisk to actually mix it into the water and lather it up.Put the dirty hair brush into the soapy water, and let it soak for about 15 minutes.

Once the 15 minutes are up, pull the brush out. Use a rag to wipe away any dirty spots or stains that might remain.Rinse the brush well, shake off the water, and let it air dry thoroughly before using.

When your brush wears out and you need a new one, try this one from Amazon!Special thanks to:
