Cleaning the barbecue grill isn’t always on everyone’s regular to-do list, because it just tends to get overlooked. What happens if you’re having company over for a barbecue and you want your grill looking more presentable? Good news! There’s a quick way to clean up that grill, and it’s pretty darn painless. Take a look at how easy it is to get your grill clean in time for dinner.
Before beginning to clean your grill, disconnect the gas line or propane bottle. Now remove the cooking grate and place it in a bucket of hot, soapy water {regular dish soap works great}. Let it soak while you perform the next few steps.
Cover the heating elements with a sheet of foil to protect them. Spray the underside of the cover with WD-40. Give it 5 minutes to soak, and then use a wire brush to scrub off the gunk. WD-40 really helps it look like new again! Wipe everything out with hot, soapy water and a sponge. Make sure there’s no residue left behind.
Now grab that wire brush and scrub the grate that’s been soaking in the bucket of hot, soapy water. Once it’s clean, just hose it off to rinse well. {For a really thorough, yearly cleaning, place the grate inside a garbage bag, pour in one cup of ammonia, then seal the bag tight and let it sit outside overnight. All the gunk will wipe right off!}.
Crumple the foil that was covering the heating elements, and use it to wipe them clean of any accumulated gunk and debris.
Replace the grate and reconnect the propane or gas line. You are ready to get grilling again!

I always say to myself that I will clean the BBQ after each use, and then the next time I go to use it I wish I had stuck to my word!

Amazing tips! I wanna add one more though: Light up the burner for 10-15 minutes before cleaning it. I found that the fire burns off any stuck food and gunk to the grill.
