How to Be a Pro at Organizing Under Your Sinks

Lots of people either shove cleaning materials under their sink or just keep one or two things down there because of the space. You don’t need to cram it full, but you also don’t need to leave the space empty and barren. Here are a few great tips to help you organize underneath the sink to maximize space and minimize clutter.

First things first, figure out what needs to be under your sink and what doesn’t. Cleaning supplies and bathroom appliances usually go under the sink, but things like extra toilet paper or tissues can usually go in a pantry or separate bathroom organizer.

Get buckets and baskets! That’s one of the best and easiest ways to start getting organized. Have baskets in which you can group cleaning materials: bathroom, kitchen, floor, etc. Not only does this organize things, but it also makes it faster when you need to clean one of those areas. It’s just grab and go!

If there’s vertical space under your sink, then install a rod. From the rod, you can hang numerous spray bottles, rubber gloves, and anything with a handle. You’d be surprised at how roomy the space under your sink can get when you utilize vertical space.

Attach hooks to the side of the cupboard for you to hang things from. Scrubbing pads, cleaning rags, etc. can all take up a lot less space if you hang them off the sides of the wall. Put in as many hooks as space will allow without making things too cluttered.

Some sinks have that weird fake drawer between the space below it and the countertop. If your sink has one of those, then consider turning it into a real pullout drawer! You can store small things like bobby pins, curling irons, garbage bags, or other things in there. It’s not a lot of space, but it’s definitely something you can use!

When you start finding spots for all of your things, plan according to frequency. If you use your dustbin on a daily basis, then make sure it’s stored toward the front of the cupboard. Likewise, if you only use it once or twice a month, then keep it back farther.

Slip little caddies over the backs of the doors to maximize space! Depending on how big the space under your sink is, this could potentially double the amount of storage and organizing space that you can use.
