What do you do when you accidentally burn your favorite stainless steel pot {or pan}? Number one, don’t panic and throw it out! Believe it or not, there is hope for that pan. Let me show you just how to clean that burnt pot or pan with some simple household ingredients, some elbow grease, and just a little bit of time.
So by now you’re asking, just what are those simple household ingredients?
water
Cover the bottom of the burnt pan with water, then pour in one cup of white vinegar. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Remove the pan from the heat, and sprinkle in 2 tablespoons of baking soda. The mixture will fizz up a lot {this is normal!}.

Once the pan has cooled and the vinegar mixture has stopped fizzing, empty the pan–but don’t rinse it out. Use a scouring pad to scrub away the burned on gunk. If needed, add some extra baking soda to help loosen any tough stains. You can also add a bit of salt for extra scrubbing power.
If there are any extra tough areas that don’t want to come off after you’ve scrubbed the pan, make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the burnt areas. Let it sit for awhile and soak, then scrub again and rinse.
