There’s one thing you should store in the freezer, but you probably don’t. Here’s why you should store plastic wrap in your freezer!
Where is your plastic wrap right now? Is it in the drawer with baggies, foil and parchment paper? You should actually move it to the freezer, and stat! There is a really good reason for doing so, and you might be surprised.
Why Should You Store Plastic Wrap In Your Freezer?
Plastic wrap, as we all know, is notoriously sticky. When it sticks to the bowl or plate or the dough or whatever else you’re trying to cover, it’s great. But when it sticks to itself or something else it’s not supposed to, it’s not so great. And it can be terribly frustrating when that happens!
The polymers that make up plastic wrap are easily beset by static–the same static cling that messes with your clothes. But static cling is no match for the freezer!
Pop that roll of plastic wrap into the freezer. When you need it, pull it out. Don’t worry about letting it thaw. In the time it takes you to pull it out and unroll the length you need, it’ll be thawed enough {but still cold} and will stick nicely, right where you need it.
Other Tips For Plastic Wrap
Besides the need to store plastic wrap in the freezer, there are other tips that will help you get the most from every roll you buy.
- Be sure to punch in those little flaps on the ends of the box your plastic wrap comes in. They’re made to hold the roll inside as you pull it–a real game changer!
- Cover your ice cream with a layer of plastic wrap before you replace the lid. It keeps the dreaded freezer burn away.
- To help the plastic wrap stick better to a plastic bowl, wet the rim of the bowl slightly with cold water just before you cover it.
There you have it! Store your plastic wrap in the freezer and you’ll find that it’s easier to use than ever before. Now check out what other surprising things you can store in your freezer!
