Got 5 minutes? Anytime you’ve got an extra 5 minutes {hello, get off that time-waster Facebook}, you can totally tackle any one of these 10 chores that are designed to be quick. They are also the chores that tend to not get done, so click through and see how your home can be cleaner in only 5 minutes at a time.
1.Clean your cell phone! Most of us have no idea how many germs our phone is harboring, and we tend to not even think about it (perhaps this is for the best..) Take 5 minutes and wipe that thing down with some rubbing alcohol. You’ll be glad you did!
2. There are so many items that we touch daily, yet we never think to clean them. Your purse is another of those things. Take 5 minutes to wipe it down with a disinfectant wipe.
3. In 5 minutes or less, you can freshen up a stinky garbage disposal. Just cut a lemon into quarters and run them through the disposal under running water. Your disposal (and your nostrills) will thank you.
4. Take 5 and give those ceiling fan blades a quick dusting with a pillow case. Just put the pillow case over each blade and then use the case to pull all the dust off the blades and into the pillow case. No dust bunnies will fall on your furniture and floors below.
5. De-clutter your end table or your nightstand by quickly grabbing all those catalogs and magazines you aren’t reading, and toss them in the recycle bin. Think how much lighter you’ll feel!
6. 5 minutes is all you need to grab a dryer sheet and use it to dust the baseboards in your living room. The dryer sheet will also help repel future dust, so you’ll have to do it less often.
7. If you have any pets that shed, use a pair of damp rubber dishwashing gloves to pick up that hair quickly and easily. It really does work!
8. Freshen your living room rug with baking soda. Take just a minute to sprinkle it on, and then let it sit for 15 minutes while you do something else. Now spend 5 minutes vacuuming it up. Odors, gone!
9. Open your junk drawer {everyone seems to have one!} and spend 5 minutes pulling out anything you can see that should just go to the trash. Or, survey the contents and pull out stuff that belongs in the toolbox and put it back where it belongs. In just 5 minutes, maybe even while you’re chatting on your phone, you can make it a little easier to find things in there.
10. Clean your range hood’s mesh filter. Chances are you never think about it, and the chances are even greater that it probably needs it. Just pop it out, wash in hot, soapy water, and then dry. Pop it back in place and feel better knowing your range hood will work more efficiently now.
