Alas, all good things must come to an end, and that includes summer. When summer ends and the cooler weather hits, it’s time to store all the summer toys until next year. What is the best way to do that? Get ready for today’s winter storage tips. We have great tips for safely storing all your favorite toys!
Some of the things that can be difficult to know how to safely store over the winter are all the water toys. The kids’ water slide is one of those. The best winter storage tips for water slides are to simply save the box it came in. But before you pack it away, make sure you do the following:
- Thoroughly dry the water slide and make sure any inflatable parts are completely drained of water. Hang it out over a few sunny, dry days and that should do the trick!
- Now roll or fold the slide up so that you can get it back into the box. Seal it up and then pack it away in a dry spot until next year.
Do you have a pool or visit another pool often? Then you might have a lot of pool noodles and other water toys to store. Again, the biggest issue is to be sure that everything is thoroughly dry before storing. The best winter storage tips for pool toys are:
- Purchase a mesh bag {or two} to stow all your pool toys in once they are dry.
- Hang the mesh bag in a dry corner of your garage, basement, or storage shed over the winter.
- Baseballs and soccer balls are also conveniently stored away in a hanging mesh bag.
Summer toys like badminton sets, golf clubs and other similar items also need proper storage over the winter.
- Clean everything before storing. Next year you’ll be able to pull it out ready to go!
- Either save the boxes they came in, or purchase large plastic totes that you can easily stack.
- Label everything so it’s easy to find and access for next season.
- Stow your totes on hanging shelves in your garage and they’ll be safe and out of the way all winter.
Use these winter storage tips to safely store all your summer toys. In the meantime, enjoy the winter toys!
