Today I have some awesome vacuuming tips for you! They will help you not only get your home cleaner, but they’ll literally change the way you vacuum.
Vacuuming is one of my favorite household chores. Is it the weird satisfaction that comes from seeing and hearing unwanted dirt and pet hair be sucked away through the vortex of destruction? I don’t know, but whatever it is, I love it!
Vacuuming Tips
Take a look at your vacuum’s roller brush. Is it collecting bits of string, thread and hair that are cutting back on its efficiency? Just grab a seam ripper from your sewing box and easily cut the stranglehold. It really will work better after you set it free!
While you’re under there, check the condition of the belt. If needed, replace it so your vacuum will run its best.
Tips For A Smelly Vacuum
Is your vacuum smelling a little stinky? You can easily fix that issue with a dryer sheet. When you change the vacuum bag, stick a dryer sheet inside the new bag before you put it into place. It will smell much better!
Vacuuming Tips: Ideas
Your vacuum cleaner works hard, so it needs its own cleaning every so often. Clean Mama has a great tutorial on how to thoroughly clean your vacuum. At the least, the bag should be changed when it is about 3/4 full.
To give a great scent to a canister vacuum {one with no bag} just toss an essential oil-soaked cotton ball into the canister. I like to use lavender essential oil, but you can use whichever kind you would like! You can purchase lavender oil here.
Baking Soda
When you need to vacuum a stinky spot on your carpet or on a mattress, sprinkle it with baking soda first to lessen the smell on both the surface and inside the vacuum.
Have you been looking everywhere for one of those tiny earring backs? Use your vacuum to help you find it. Cover the end of the hose with pantyhose and then go over the area where you dropped it. You may be surprised at what you pick up this way.
Dyson Vacuuming Tips
Finally, a properly functioning vacuum cleaner is necessary if you want your home to be clean and dust free. When is the last time you replaced your vacuum cleaner? If you’re due for another, the Dyson Ball Multifloor is a great choice. I purchased one a few weeks ago and my floors are looking much cleaner! Interested in purchasing one for yourself? Great tip about putting essential oils in the cannister! Embarrassingly I’d never actually thought of that before… Definitely going to try it.
