Today we have some surprising {and awesome} Epsom salt uses for cleaning. You need to know about these uses, because they’ll help you keep a cleaner home and save money at the same time! How many do you know about?
Epsom Salt Uses For Cleaning Inside The Home
Epsom Salt Uses #1: Clean A Scratched Cutting Board
How many worn, scratched cutting boards do you own? The problem with scratches on a wood cutting board is that they’re harder to clean–and the dishwasher is off limits. To help you get into the scratches and prevent build-up of bacteria, use Epsom salt.
Sprinkle the cutting board with Epsom salt, and use the cut side of a lemon to work the Epsom salt around the board. Pay close attention to scratched and potentially germy areas. Follow it up with a little hydrogen peroxide and a thorough rinse under running water.
#2 Use It In The Washing Machine
Your washing machine keeps your laundry clean–but that doesn’t mean it keeps itself clean. Surprisingly, it needs a little care and attention from you for that. But with some Epsom salt, that job is easy.
Fill a top load washer with hot water. Add one cup of Epsom salt and 3 cups of white vinegar. Let the machine agitate for a couple of minutes, then stop it and let everything just soak for about an hour. After the soak, restart the washer and let it finish. Now you have a clean machine!
#3 Epsom Salt For Cleaning Grout
This method is so cost-effective and great at cleaning, you’ll wish you knew about it sooner! Just mix Epsom salt and your favorite dishwashing liquid in a bowl–equal amounts of each. Apply this mixture to dirty grout and scrub with a brush. Your grout is so much cleaner!
#4 Clean Dirty Pots & Pans
Pots and pans with baked-on grime are a tough cleaning job. But Epsom salt is tougher! Sprinkle a light layer of Epsom salt over burned on areas. Use a damp sponge and the Epsom salt to scrub away the dirt. This also works well for cast iron pots and pans!
We also have great uses for Borax and hydrogen peroxide. What are you going to clean first?
