Do you love to light more candles around the holidays? You’re not alone! But how do you remove the wax that seems to drip or splatter just where you don’t want it? If the wax gets on your best table linens, let it harden. Then use a spoon to scrape away all you can of the hardened wax. Now place a few paper towels both under and over the wax stain, and use your iron {on the low setting} to melt the wax residue. The paper towels will absorb the wax as it melts. Treat any stain that is left behind with a pre-treatment spray such as Tide Boost, then launder as usual.
Wine stains are notorious if you host or attend a party where alcohol is served. For red wine stains on table linens, you should actually dab them with white wine and allow it to penetrate the stain for a minute. Follow that with a 30-minute soak in cold water. Spray with a pre-treater and then launder in the warmest water that is safe for the particular fabric.
Greasy stains such as butter, gravy and salad dressings can be tough to remove. If the stain is still wet, try using Shout pre-treatment wipes. If it’s dry, Real Simple recommends using Tide Boost instead. After pre-treating, launder the linens in the warmest water that is safe for the fabric.
If you have a cranberry sauce stain, run the stain under cold water as soon as you possibly can. Then pre-treat the stain with Tide Boost, and wash in the warmest water that is safe for the fabric. If the fabric will tolerate it, use bleach as well.
